Do you have a hobby? Are there things in your life that you love doing or are really passionate about? If not, it is a great idea to invest some of your time in uplifting activities that will bring happiness to your life. Additionally, they will most likely relieve stress. In today’s horrific economy a stress relieving activity is much needed. Are you unsure of what to do besides watching TV? Because that does not count! Here’s a thought. Try gardening. It’s a great hobby that will allow you to work at something, and at the same time spend time outdoors. Here are a few ideas that will help you get off on the right foot with your garden:
• Grass is apparently a cool season crop, which means that it needs to be fertilized in the springtime to grow. To keep your grass growing, never remove more the 1/3 of the blade.
• The spring is the best time to prune your roses in Richmond and any other plants that look dead. Cut all the dead wood to the ground. You can also remove any older or weaker canes, and rub them against each other. And be sure to divide your perennials now.
• Sometimes plants get injured during the months of March and April because it gets really hot and then cold. Although they may look damaged right now, chances are likely that they will be fine and grow a second round of fresh flowers soon.
